Brasilia Stadium Cable Net Roof Erection using Strand Jacks

In December 2012 a new Cable Net roof structure for the Brasilia Stadium was erected by Protende of Brazil using a 48 x 98 tonne capacity computer controlled strand jack system supplied by DLT. The 48 No strand jacks were located on a 300m diameter concrete compression ring at roof level with strand running down the terraces to connect with 48 No cable clamps that were fitted to the radial cables of the cable net roof structure. A complex 250 step erection sequence was carefully followed to lift the cable net from an assembly position at the foot of the terracing up into final position where it was pinned to the concrete compression ring. All strand jacks and power packs were carefully monitored and synchronised from a single control computer using our DL-P40 computer control system. DLT also provided a site team to oversee the installation and operation of the system.
